This program is designed for new and aspiring doulas who are ready to build a strong, confident foundation in birthwork. You are perfect for this program if you have completed some type of doula training or workshop as well as have a basic understanding of the labor and birth process.

Weekly live Zoom sessions Weekly office hours for Q&A, processing, and real-time support and connection. Breastfeeding for Birth Pros class that meets the lactation education requirement for most doula certification programs. Opportunities for hands-on experience, including shadowing prenatal visits and potential birth attendance (location and availability dependent). Potential to be a preferred provider for our Last Minute Doula program. A packed digital resource library full of forms, client templates, reading materials, and business-building tools that you can access and use immediately. A vibrant group messaging thread for peer connection, questions, and day-to-day support. Real-time birth support coaching and debriefing with your mentor when you attend births while in the program.

Yes! Not only do we walk you through establishing a legal and successful business, including business structures and filing, bookkeeping, getting an EIN, NPI, and business license, but our program satisfies a number of the Medi-Cal requirements, including a 3-hour lactation class, deep dive into non-medical comfort measures, comprehensive prenatal support including home visits and client care plans, supporting physiologic labor and birth, advocacy and informed decision making in all care settings, and more. You are also encouraged to attend our Becoming a Medi-Cal Approved Doula workshop, which is included in the mentorship program.

Nope! This program welcomes doulas before or after their first birth attendance or postpartum shift. Whether you’ve just completed your doula workshop or you already have a few birth under your belt, we meet you where you’re at.

Many mentees do! While birth attendance depends on your location, availability, and client consent, we support you in gaining real-world experience whenever possible—through prenatal visits, labor support, or as a second doula at a birth. That being said, we cannot guarantee you will gain live birth support experience during your time with us.

Our breastfeeding class is taught by a lactation consultant and a lactation educator counselor. It is the only weekly session that is 3 hours long rather than 2.5, and is designed to meet certification requirements for many major organization. You will need to confirm with your certifying organization

Our mentorship program is an incredible complement to traditional doula training and is the primary requirement for becoming a Kindred Certified Doula. Our program fills in the practical, emotional, and real-world aspects that formal training often doesn’t cover. Many of our participants have said they learned more with us than in any prior doula workshops or trainings!
